My name is David, and I will be sharing my experience with teaching students who have developmental disability. I have been teaching these classes for the past few months and have learned many important lessons and enjoyed many experiences with the kids. One Really valuable lesson i learned during my last class teaching the kids about Alice in Wonderland is the importance of patience. This experience was also especially valuable to me as I, a high-schooler, is the same age or sometimes even younger than some of the students in my class, which makes me feel some of the struggles they go through in life or even just in school.
Through these classes I have taught, I have learned that patience is one of the key aspects of teaching. No matter who, with patience, everyone can learn things easy or hard. For instance, when we are learning a book, at first it might be hard for my students to understand some of the phrasings, but through repetitive and encouraging patient strategies, the students not only understood it better but enjoyed it.
This experience has especially made me realize PATIENCE is key in not only learning things but also in daily life activities. I am also excited to learn more through these lessons and eventually share more of my thoughts and experiences. \
Thank you very much, below is story we did last class and I'll continue updating my experience along this journey
